Why did you start personal training with Andy?

To train for a marathon.

What were you expecting?

Unsure initially as I had never trained for anything before. But Andy introduced me to the world of weightlifting, showed me how to enjoy working out and trained me beyond my needs for the marathon.

How has Andy helped you?

Before I started weight training I was always intimidated by the weights section of a gym. I also believed the commonly misconceived notion that weightlifting would make me ‘bulky’ and thought that long cardio sessions were the only way to drop any weight (wrong!). Andy showed me that weightlifting is fun and allows you to challenge yourself and set (and smash) incredible goals.

What is your favourite thing you have achieved?

Looking back to two years ago when I first started, I am completely amazed at the strength I have gained through training. I used to work out for aesthetics alone, however, since starting weightlifting I now work out to set myself targets and because of the way it makes me feel. Aesthetics are now just a by-product of this. Also I’ve never eaten so much food in my entire life!

Why did you start personal training with Andy?

My previous personal trainer had left the gym I was at. I was keen to carry on lifting as I had only just started and still was not confident enough with my lifts especially squats. Had spoken to Andy in the gym, then signed up for a couple of taster sessions. From the first hour with him I knew right away I wanted to carry on as he stripped my technique right back to basics to ensure I was doing everything right.

What were you expecting?

From what I’d seen from him in the gym with his other clients, professionalism and someone who knew what they were talking about.

How has Andy helped you?

My confidence has increased massively. I’ve gone from a girl who looked over at the weights area in the gym, cringed and walked straight past it to the comfort of the treadmills where the female population is tenfold and they welcome you with loving arms and tampons, to a girl who can now rock up to the free weights area without batting an eyelash and confidently deadlift more than some of the lads. (My PB has gone from 100kg to 130kg in just over a year)

My squats have gone from shockingly bad to a great technique and from not being able to squat 40kg to being able to now confidently rep 60kg for 6. All this work and dedication from Andy and myself has paid off as my booty has grown from 94cm to 114cm. 🍑🍑 #bigbootyproblems

Without Andy I’d be cowering away and falling off treadmills, dreaming of the land of heavy weights and big booties.

Andy has never once given up on me and even when I’ve been at my lowest, he’s been there to help me get back on track – squats being my biggest enemy. I can’t thank him enough.

What is your favourite thing you have achieved?

My squats and my deadlifts are what I’m most proud of, however my technique in my bench is far superior to either of these and is by far my strongest lift.

And for anyone who has met me they will know I’m very proud of my butt.

Would you recommend Andy?

Definitely 100%

Why did you start personal training with Andy?

Over the course of a couple of years I’d put on quite a bit of weight. I started Virgin in the summer and tried to do it alone, however it got to the point where I wasn’t achieving the results I’d wanted from the gym or the classes I was attending. I also wasn’t confident enough with what I was doing on the gym floor with the various weight machines. I decided that personal training would be the way forward in achieving these results and also give me the motivation to keep it up.

What were you expecting?

I was expecting a personal trainer to show me the ropes in the gym and provide me with a programme I could work through myself. With Andy, he provides this and a whole lot more. My initial intention was to train with a PT for a couple of months and go it alone. However I ended up training with Andy for over a year as I was loving the results I was seeing and he was a great guy to work with.

How has Andy helped you?

My greatest achievements are looking and feeling healthier. I don’t worry too much about the numbers on the scale. If I can see an improvement and most importantly fit into my favourite jeans again then that’s enough for me

Would you recommend Andy?

I would most definitely recommend Andy to anyone that was thinking of training. I’m sure everything I’ve taken away from Andy’s PT sessions I’ll be using for years to come!

Why did you start personal training with Andy?

It didn’t take long chatting to Andy to realise that he knew exactly what he was talking about. And after hearing all that he has achieved in recent years, I knew that he could help me achieve my own goals. With such a friendly, charming personality, along with all the know-how, I knew I had made the right choice to start training with him.

What were you expecting?

I had no idea what to expect! I just put my trust in Andy and went from there.

How has Andy helped you?

Where to begin. Through training with Andy I have hit weekly PB’s, gained strength, improved fitness and stamina, changed my mentality towards food (a big thing for me) and changed my mentality in general. I have more confidence in my ability and believe I can achieve things in training now where I never did before. None of these would have happened without Andy’s support and guidance.

What is your favourite thing you have achieved?

With a recurring lower back injury which plagued me for two years, deadlifts were always a no-go. But with gradual training over the last 5 months with Andy, I pulled a 100kg deadlift for 2 reps. That blew my mind. Also I eat so much food now it is fantastic!

Would you recommend Andy?

100%. No question.

Why did you start personal training with Andy?

I joined the gym to lose weight. I was completely shocked that I could lose weight by doing strength training and not just cardio.

What were you expecting?

I didn’t really know what to expect with personal training, all I knew was that I thought it would be very difficult and a huge amount of work. I quickly realised that Andy would push me hard but with his motivation I saw instant benefits.

How has Andy helped you?

Around two years ago I weighed 108kg and I was a dress size 18. After training with Andy I now weigh 75kg, having lost 33kg (5.2 stone) I am now a dress size 12/10. When I look back on how I used to be I think of how much has changed, yes I have lost massive amounts of weight and bodyfat, but, I am also happier, my life has been completely changed for the better. I honestly could not have done it without Andy’s help and I owe so much to Andy for getting me to this position. My health has improved as well and everyday tasks that once seemed hard – for example walking up the stairs or running for the bus – now seem simple, I can go jogging and don’t even feel out of breath. My biggest achievement has to be my 120kg squat at the British Championship which was a European Powerlifting record at the time.

Would you recommend Andy?

I would highly recommend Andy, I honestly couldn’t think of any other person I would want as a personal trainer. He is highly qualified, funny, easy to get along with and he is always on hand to help if you have a question or need help when you are training by yourself. Most importantly as he gets to know you he knows how hard to push you, almost better than you know yourself, this for me meant being able to reach targets that seemed to be impossible but that he knew I could get. Sometimes just having someone who really believes in you is enough.

Why did you start personal training with Andy?

I started personal training with Andy because I wanted some more guidance with what to do in the gym. I was training 5 times a week, with no noticeable results. I chose to train with Andy as he was the only personal trainer who inspired me with confidence.

What were you expecting?

I was expecting to get stronger and generally tighten up.

How has Andy helped you?

Andy has surpassed my expectations and helped me in multiple ways. I have lost weight, and gained muscle. I wanted to tighten up my whole body, and especially my legs and butt. I was surprised at how fast I was able to reach my first set of goals through Andy’s training plan and personal training. He has inspired me to reach for higher goals, and has given me a new sense of joy in the gym.

What is your favourite thing you have achieved?

The favourite thing I have achieved is squatting 100kg, which at 55kg is almost double body weight.

Would you recommend Andy?

I would give Andy my highest recommendations.

Why did you start personal training with Andy?

As a keen gymnast for many years I have always been interested in fitness and lifting weights.  Prior to meeting Andy I focused on a body building style programme primarily for aesthetic gain.  My programme at this stage was time consuming and my diet was low in calories; I was plateauing in seeing results in both strength and aesthetics.  Andy approached me to offer powerlifting coaching; something I have always been interested in trying.

What were you expecting?

To gain strength, possibly compete in powerlifting while enhancing my physique as a secondary benefit.

How has Andy helped you?

Andy has helped me in 3 main ways:

  1. Coached me to an international level Powerlifter (he perfected my squat, bench and deadlift through meticulous coaching methods while using an individualised approach)
  2. Aesthetic enhancement – reduced body fat, muscular gains
  3. Diet – showed me the importance of a balanced diet and refuting the common misconception that carbs make you fat! (they actually make you lean, happy and facilitate performance in the gym!)

What is your favourite thing you have achieved?

Receiving an invite to compete internationally as a Powerlifter for Team GB (having only trained as a Powerlifter for 12 months).

Would you recommend Andy?

I would thoroughly recommend Andy for anyone interested in improving their physique: not just those interested in powerlifting or competing.  He is motivating, enthusiastic and intelligent.  He has a wide range of knowledge from nutrition to strength and conditioning.  His positive reinforcement and enthusiasm combined with his genuine passion for powerlifting makes him the perfect personal trainer/coach for anyone either looking to get in shape or those more serious about the sport.

Why did you start personal training with Andy? I had tried every single diet shake and fad diet and just noticed my weight yoyoing. I started weight training initially to get ‘tone’ and after noticing results I stuck with it and actually enjoyed it. It’s noticeable before even training with Andy he knows what he’s talking about and wants to help you achieve your goals.

What were you expecting? Not going to lie was expecting to hate doing weights and bounce back to cardio and diet shakes but immediately noticed how weak I was and found myself wanting to push myself to get treble figure deadlifts!

How has Andy helped you? Andy has helped me gain confidence being a girl in the weights section, achieve a 100kg deadlift, enjoy it and ultimately get a body I’m happy with. No regrets training with him.

What is your favourite thing you have achieved? My favourite thing was getting a better diet. It’s not perfect still, but it’s miles from what it was and a lot healthier lifestyle. Andy was able to make suggestions for swapping things that I’d still enjoy.

Would you recommend Andy? No questions asked, he’s an amazing trainer and friend.
